FAQ – catering and Shabbat meals

All our meals are prepared in Athens at Gostijo, a glatt kosher restaurant under the supervision of Rabbi Mendel Hendel, Chabad of Athens. Here are the answers to the questions we hear most. Still have one? Write to info@koshergreece.com or call +30 210 32 33 825.

Ordering

How far in advance should I order?

At least 3 working days in advance. You can order earlier and choose your preferred delivery date at checkout.

When should I order Shabbat meals?

By Tuesday of the same week at the latest. The earlier, the better.

Can I order meals for several days at once?

Yes. The meals stay fresh in the fridge for 2–3 days. For a longer stay it is best to schedule several deliveries.

How much is delivery?

Pick-up at the store (central Athens) Free
Central Athens (postcodes 10xxx) 10 €
Nearby neighbourhoods (postcodes 11xxx, 171xx–177xx) 15 €
Rest of the Athens suburbs and Piraeus 20 €
Mainland Greece – Peloponnese, central and northern Greece 40 €

The fee is calculated automatically from the postcode at checkout and shown before you confirm the order. If your destination is not in the table, write to us and we will confirm the cost in advance. More details on the delivery page.

Delivery

How does it work?

For most destinations the order is delivered straight to your hotel. Let the hotel know in advance that a package from us is coming, and give us the name and phone number of someone who knows about it. For some destinations and days a direct delivery is not possible – then we ship another way and arrange everything with you in advance.

What are the other ways?

  • To the islands – by ferry from the port of Piraeus, in a styrofoam box with ice packs. You (or someone from the hotel) pick it up at the port when the ferry arrives. Please be on time – the ferry stays in port only briefly.
  • On the mainland – with the parcel service of the KTEL intercity buses. You pick it up at the main KTEL bus station of the area.

Can you deliver to a villa, an apartment or an Airbnb?

Yes, as long as there is a contact person with a phone number to receive the package.

Do you deliver every day?

There are no deliveries on Saturdays, Sundays and Jewish holidays.

When will my order arrive?

We cannot guarantee an exact time, but these are the usual delivery times:

  • Athens – usually in the morning.
  • Crete – in the morning.
  • Mykonos – between 14:00 and 16:00.
  • Santorini – between 16:00 and 18:00.

Do you deliver to my location?

For most destinations, yes – straight to the hotel: Athens, Mykonos, Santorini, Crete, Corfu and more. For some destinations the delivery reaches a pick-up point, for example up to Volos for the Pelion area and up to Ioannina for the Zagori villages.

The meals

How do I heat them?

The meals come in double-wrapped aluminium trays, so they can be heated in a non-kosher oven too. Every order includes storage and heating instructions in English and Greek.

Are plates and cutlery included?

Yes, disposable plates and cutlery are sent with every meal.

What is in a Shabbat meal?

The dishes of each meal are listed on its product page, in the Shabbat meals category. The meals do not include wine – you can add wine or grape juice for kiddush to your order.
